Since Ascarus traditionally launches on Fridays and Guild Events happen on Saturdays, we have decided that instead of disabling it for the first week, like in previous seasons, we will allow the Guild Events to happen, but will be reducing the rewards in these first 2 weeks, in order to not create big gaps between competing guilds early on, and enjoy fun battles on lower levels.
The reward table for the first week will be the following:
- Guild Trophy, Mystery Gift, 3 Gold Nuggets, 2x Orb of Enchantment, Stamina Refiller, 100 Game Tokens

Noteworthy Changes from Season 3
- Remade the Item Enchanting system entirely - Magic items can be looted from monsters or crafted by players by using orbs of enchantment on an item
- Added an Item Salvaging system - If you ever receive a magic item who's bonuses don't appeal to you, it can be disenchanted into magical dusts, which can then be exchanged for new orbs of enchantment
- Remade the Item Market - Seamlessly list your items for sale, it supports enchanted items and also broadcasts newly added offers to our in-game trade channel, as well as our Discord server
- Remade our Twitch streamer system - It will now automatically display a list of live Twitch streams on our website without you having to do anything
- Added 4 new bosses in Rookgaard, all of them have received custom scripted attacks and defenses
- Added 2 new bosses in Vesuvia, there is now a total of 4 AI bosses in Vesuvia, and they are connected to the new Wrath of the Seven quest
- Added 4 new bosses that can be found in quests around the server - Fortinbrae, Orshasmaal, Hadesrath & Sunnoth
- Adjusted how gift point refunds are handled, more information can be found in the "Donation refunds" section below
- Added a new quest called Wrath of the Seven - It functions similar to The Inqusition Quest and replaces our old Ascendant Boots Quest
- Sorcerers now deal an additional 5% more damage than druids, in order to make the vocation more attractive
- Monsters are now smarter when it comes to walking through magic fields
- Some monsters will always walk through fields, no matter what
- Some monsters will not walk through fields unless they have been attacked
- Monsters will no longer get stuck between fields
- Monster summons will no longer be blocked by magic fields, if they can walk through that specific field type
- The attack speed of all vocations has been reduced from 1 attack every 1s to 1 attack every 1.2s, in order to balance out the attack speed item bonus - If a player has a maximum attack speed bonus, it will come out to the previous attack speed of 1 attack every 1s
- Updates to experience stages
- Switched back to the traditional experience stage system where the experience rate stays consistent until a certain level and then drops sharply
- Reduced the experience stages in the end-game, mid-game experience stages are slightly higher
- Increased the bonus experience for GameGuard players
- Updates to stamina refillers
- Increased the cooldown of stamina refillers from 4 hours to 8 hours
- Increased the shop price of stamina refillers from 100 points to 200 points
- Added a new task NPC called Hawthorn, you can find him at Thais depot +1 - Choose your own monster amount and pick between gold or experience as reward, which is automatically calculated, based on monster strength
- Added the Edron Vampire Crypt
- Added the Gargoyle Cave in Meriana
- Added a missing Brimstone Bug cave, along with the boss portal to the Sulphur Scuttler boss
- Assassin stars now have a 5% chance to break on hit
- Decrease the chance for NPC's to say a voice line from 25% to 20% to reduce message spam
- Bank balance is now also taken into consideration when using the !promotion command
- Slightly changed the map layout at the VIP Poison Ivy boss spawn
- Slightly changed the map layout at the VIP Harambe boss spawn
- Slightly changed the spawn positions of bosses in the Native Armor quest in order to prevent them from being botted easily
- Reworked how conditions & elemental damage types are handled in the engine
- Optimized creature lookup speeds in the engine
- Overhauled the entire lua scripting system in the server engine again (this is a huge internal change)
- Various other fixes and optimizations in the server engine

Season rewards
As always, the top players of a season will receive a few special rewards for their competitiveness
The rewarded categories are the following:
- Top 10 players in the experience highscores
- Victorious backpack with special engraving
- Season trophy with special engraving
- Top 50 players in the experience highscores
- 200 premium points
- Top 10 players above level 200 that had the highest scores in the following categories: Magic Level, Fist Fighting, Sword Fighting, Axe Fighting, Club Fighting, Distance Fighting, Shielding, Snake, Tasks & Achievements
- 200 premium points
Donation refunds
All donations that were made within the last 30 days before launch will be fully refunded.
All donations that were made more than 30 days before launch will be refunded in the following manner:
- The refunded amount begins at 80% and for each additional month that has passed since the donation was made, the points will lose 5% of their original value (decreased from 10% to 5% to make up for the very long season)
- Unlike previous seasons, you will now receive the full amount of refunded points right away instead of receiving a chunk of points for specific level milestones
- The amount of refunded points is capped to 10000 points
- Donations from longer than 1 season ago will not be refunded
Guild points
Due to the popularity of us offering guild points manually during Season 2, we have added an automated system to distribute these points since Season 3. Points obtained through this system can be spent in the guild shop

A patch to the server has been applied, you can find a list of changes below. This patch will also serve as a public pre-season testing phase for various big changes to the server and new systems.
Changes
- Introduced a new item market system, you can find all active listings on the Item Market page
- Removed the old item auction system in favor of the new item market system
- Replaced the old item upgraders with orbs of enchantment in mystery gifts
- Made the Discord activity bot post new market offers to our Discord server
- Corrected the distance threshold until the "very far" message appears in the "Find Person" (exiva) spell
- Added the Edron Vampire Crypt
- Updated the chances for the specific magic item tiers, as well as the chance for an item to get a suffix attribute
- Corrected the item description text when looking at an item that was enchanted by a player
- Optimized creature lookup speeds in the engine
- Fixed a crash that was introduced in the previous update
- Corrected the minimum name length for a namelocked character from 4 to 3 characters
- Corrected the item description text when looking at an item that has an armor enchantment
- Fixed a bug that caused the player idle time to be reset after every auto attack, which resulted in x-logged characters to never be kicked from the training monks

- Swapped out a misplaced Hero in the Old Fortress for an Exiled Hero
- Added a job prefix to NPC Dove in Venore's depot
- Updated the !soft command, it will now transform your existing soft boots instead of removing them & adding new ones
- Fixed an error that could occur in the guild event when players did not deal any damage to the Guild Event Creature
- Rewrote the script for the obsidian knife and added support for ice cube carving & marble rock sculpting. Along with that came the following new achievements: Marblelous, Marble Madness & Cold as Ice
- Corrected the corpse ID of Lizard Chosens
- Added the possibility to form sculptures out of clay lumps. Along with that came the following new achievements: Clay Fighter & Clay to Fame
- Fixed an error that could occur when building the death channel message when a player dies
- Added an events interface that allows for better scriptability of specific server events
- Moved the OnGainExperience event to the new events interface
- Moved the OnSpawn event to the new events interface
- Moved generating monster loot to the new events interface
- Fixed the speed bonus of expedition backpacks not applying properly
- Replaced upgrader chests with Orbs of Enchantment

- Updated the looktype of Charizard for players that use the Ascarus client
- Added a new boss in northern Vesuvia
- Reworked how conditions & elemental damage types are handled in the engine
- Added the ability to temporarily prevent monsters from moving, attacking or casting spells
- Added crystals to the loot of all Vesuvian bosses, which will be required for a new quest in the future
- Fixed a bug that caused cooldowns for fighting the Vesuvian bosses to not apply properly to all players who entered the boss fight
Small followup patch, 18th June:
- Items that were upgraded with the old item bonus system will now properly have their stats normalized
- Fixed a potential memory leak when a looted item could not be added to a monster corpse
- Fixed an error when a monster tries to spawn in the boss rooms without there being enough space
